National Flag Day
On June 14 of every year, we celebrate the adoption of our flag in 1777 by the Second Continental Congress. In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson designated this date as National Flag Day. What started as a simple marking by a local Wisconsin school teacher in 1885 has grown into a national movement.
Dames are encouraged to not only fly their flag, but also to remind others of this important day. Contact local veterans groups, scouts and municipal leaders for local observances.
